| Cultural Program News Revised: April 24th 2010 |
Dear Friends and Family of the Knanaya Community,
The officials of the KCCNA Convention are working at full speed to make this upcoming convention a memorable one. The National Cultural Committee is putting in our best effort to create a successful Cultural Program for this year’s convention. Please note that the time is split according to the ratio of registrants per unit as well as the number of KCCNA National Council members in their respective areas. With the given number of registrants, our committee has assigned the following time restrictions for the Cultural Program to each unit as follows:
All set up time must be included within your unit's allocated time. No exceptions will be made.
If any unit feels as though they will not use their entire allocated time, please call me to let me know.
With the 19 units that are competing, the committee is not allowed to exceed the total time allocation of 11 hours for the entire cultural program. Due to this time limit, our committee will not extend time for any units competing in the cultural competition.
The Cultural Competition will be split into the four following groups with times listed according to unit:
GROUP - A
Chicago 100 min.
New York 100
Houston 100
GROUP - B
Dallas 45 min.
Tampa 45
San jose 45
Atlanta 45
GROUP C
Canada 20 min.
Detroit 20
miami 20
minnesota 20
San Antonio 20
LA 20
GROUP D
Arizona 10 min.
A.At large 10
Las vegas 10
Ohio 10
Philadelphia 10
Washington 10
Judging by the best performance in the Cultural Competition, there will be one winner per group. This is to be fair to those groups who have less participates and less time to showcase their talents.
It is imperative that I receive the contact e-mail of all coordinators of each Cultural Program Unit as soon as possible.
Guidelines for the program content:
Please develop an engaging and fun-filled variety program with an enjoyable theme and performance for your region. We are looking for unique programs that display the enormous talent that we possess in our community. Be aware that this is a family centered event and that all performances should maintain and promote the values of the Knanaya Catholic culture. Any performances that display provocative or discriminatory ideas toward any individual or group will be disqualified from the cultural program competition. We emphasize that regions do not limit programs to single dances, standup comedy, and instrumental music. We highly encourage all regions/units to reduce any single item performances at all. The judges scoring will be bases on overall coordination, creativity, dramatic effect, variety of program, costume, and thematic flow from the very beginning of the performance till the exiting of the stage.
It is important to remember that the cultural program is the prime time to display the immense talent of the Knanaya community. This is an opportunity that each unit should take with both seriousness and excitement in order to reflect the beauty and unity of our culture. We look forward to viewing a variety of performances from each region/unit that displays the strength and tradition of our people. We want to make this convention unforgettable, so please bring forth your best talent!
Please e-mail or call me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have regarding the cultural competition. Our committee is more than willing to make this convention a successful one.
Sincerely,
Nancy Chackumkal
